Per Article V of the by-laws, the Nominating Committee appointed by the Board of Directors of FD Community FCU has filed the following nominations for the two Director positions open to election at the annual meeting scheduled for May 09, 2017 at Aria Wedding and Banquet Facility. Incumbents: Joseph McGrath and Mark Casey.
Joseph McGrath has been a credit union member for 42 years. He served on the credit union board of directors from 1997 to 2004 and rejoined the credit union board of directors in February of 2013. Before rejoining the board, he remained involved with the credit union serving 7 years as President of the credit union’s wholly owned subsidiary, Waterbury Firefighters CUSO. Mr. McGrath has devoted time to several civic and youth organizations including serving as Chairman of the United Way of Greater Waterbury and President of the Boys and Girls Club of Waterbury. Mr. McGrath had a 42 year career in the office automation industry rising to the level of Regional Director of Sales in the northeast for Ricoh USA. He is currently the Director of Economic Development for the City of Waterbury, a role he has held for the past five years. He is married with three children and three grandchildren.
Mark Casey has been a credit union member for 29 years and joined the credit union board of directors in May of 2010. Mr. Casey has served on the credit union’s asset/liability management committee for 6 years. He has been employed by Saint Mary’s Hospital since 1999 and currently holds the position of Director of Security, Emergency Preparedness and Communications. Mr. Casey also devotes time to various community organizations including as vice chairman of the Waterbury Local Emergency Planning Committee, board member of Northwest Connecticut Public Safety Communications Center and as a board member of the United Way and serves as Chair of the Community Service Cabinet. Mr. Casey also serves on the Emergency Advisory Council for the town of Prospect. Mr. Casey is married with two children.
In addition to the above nominees, members may submit nomination for election by petition. The required petition includes a certified nomination form (signed by at least 81 members of FD Community FCU), a brief statement of qualifications and biographical information. Upon receipt of all nominations, each nominee will receive written confirmation of their nomination in advance of the annual meeting. If there is only one nominee for each position to be filled, the election shall not be conducted by ballot and nominations will not be accepted from the floor in accordance with the credit union’s bylaws.
